The ornament of this ring is built of eight-petalled rosettes inscribed in a circle, which are interconnected by shoots of vegetable braid. This is one of the most ancient principles of ornament construction. Rosettes, consisting of two four-pointed elements, symbolize the Christmas star, the Mother of God, the image of the connection of earth and Heaven; in an ornamental context, it is a sign of the life-giving connection of man with God.
