The construction of the modern building of the Kazansky Railway Station began in 1913 and ended in 1940. The building was built in the neo-Russian style by A. V. Shchusev with the team of authors.
In the 1950s the suburban traffic hall was completed, which was connected to the metro station Komsomolskaya. In 1987–1997 the building has been reconstructed: the appearance has been renewed, the internal premises have been expanded and redesigned, roofs over the platforms have been built, the building is equipped with modern technical means.
